Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In cases where there might be discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Hook, you must be at least 21 years of age, though specific age restrictions may apply based on vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur additional fees. A valid driving licence appropriate for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. You must also provide valid payment information and a security deposit, as well as meet any other conditions outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments
- Bookings at Hook Car Hire can be made easily via our website, over the phone, or in person at our local office. To confirm your reservation, a booking deposit may be necessary. Full payment and a security deposit are typically required upon vehicle collection. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include applicable VAT. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment platforms.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collection of your rental vehicle, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by you. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as received, accounting only for standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged appropriately. Please return the vehicle with the same fuel level as collected; refueling fees will be applied if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may incur additional charges, so if you anticipate a delay, contact us as soon as possible. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, in addition to an administrative fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility
- All vehicle rentals come with basic third-party insurance coverage. Complete details regarding the coverage and any applicable excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to minimize your financial liability further. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the specified insurance excess unless you opt for extra insurance. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, regardless of existing insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur charges. It is advisable to review these details to avoid unexpected fees.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities or purposes. This includes racing, off-road driving, or any actions deemed hazardous. Transporting dangerous materials is prohibited. Additionally, the vehicle should not be sub-let or driven by unauthorized individuals. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Ensure the vehicle is used within its intended capacity and within agreed geographical boundaries.
Breach of terms may result in immediate rental cancellation and fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Hook Car Hire disclaims responsibility for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business related to your use of our services. Our liability for any claims is capped at the rental amount paid in the last 12 months, excluding instances of negligence leading to death or personal injury, or cases of fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
